Evelyn, this photo shows part of the huge art deco fountain
in
Hyde Park
,
Sydney
,
Australia
. It was created 1929-1931 and has four sections
radiating around a central statue, all showing illustrations
of classical mythology. One of the four sections shows
Diana the Huntress with two Borzois as this breed was
popular at the time. Wouldn’t it be nice to have

Hallo Frau Kirsch,
heute hat mir ein
Bekannter eine sehr grosse Freude gemacht, indem
er mir dieses Barsoibild schenkte. Er hat es in
einem alten Haus bei einem alten Mann gefunden,
der es nicht wollte. Es muss wohl eine
Wandabdeckung gewesen sein, gemalt ist es auf eine
dünne Holzplatte und signiert mit S.Bevilaqua
1920. Das Bild ist ungefähr 80 cm lang und 50
breit. Das wäre doch sicher was für Ihre Spalte
"Borzoi-Art", vielleicht kann mir auch
jemand etwas über die Herkunft und den Künstler
sagen. Es ist sicher ein Unikat.
