Deborah Vidaver received the
B.A. in Fine Arts from Brown University, the M.F.A. in Sculpture from the
University of California, and the Ph.D. in Arts and Sciences from Columbia
University.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and is
represented in museums and private collections in the U.S. and in Europe.
Vidaver has also taught courses in drawing, sculpture and art
history at Antioch College and at the University of California.
Her exhibitions in Europe include the American Center Museum and
Centre National des Arts Plastiques in Paris; Museo Calouste Gulbenkian in
Lisbon; New Society for the Visual Arts in Berlin; Musee d'Art et
d'Histoire in Switzerland; the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and the Museum
of Tel Aviv.
Selected exhibitions in the U.S include San Francisco Art
Institute, San Francisco Arts Commission, Southern Exposure Gallery,
William Sawyer Gallery, Soker-Kaseman Gallery, and Fuller-Goldeen Gallery
-- all in San Francisco; The Crocker Museum of Art in Sacramento; San Jose
Institute of Contemporary Art; San Mateo Arts Council; Los Angeles City
Hall; Mandeville Art Center in San Diego;
Reynold C. Kerr Gallery in New York;
ARC Gallery and Klein Gallery in Chicago; Bell Gallery in
Providence, RI and the Weisman Museum of Art in Minneapolis.
Specializing in the Herding Breeds, Sighthounds, and Working Group
dogs, Vidaver's recent work includes trophies and fundraising pieces for
the Borzoi Club of America, Belgian Sheepdog Club of America, the American
Belgian Tervuren Club, the American Belgian Malinois Club, and the United
Belgian Shepherd Dog Association.
Her commissions include sculptures for the private art collections
of top U.S. breeders and judges -- including the breeders of Number 1 dogs
in Borzoi, Collies and Belgian Sheepdogs, as well as the breeders of
Westminster Breed and Group winners.
She is currently working on a new series of limited edition Borzoi
sculptures, paintings, prints and custom artphoto tiles for 2003.
